Namura Shinichi

Namura is the most popular teacher at Toryo High School. He is 25 years old at the beginning of the show. He and Meiko have been dating for two years when the show begins. They meet secretly in the school library and take dates away from where people would recognize them. Meiko was just 15 when they began dating. When Namura discovers that he will be teaching Meiko's class, he tells her that they can not date again until she graduates. When their secret is discovered in episode 15, Namura decides to be "honorable" and quit his job and move back to Hiroshima to help in his parent's real estate business. Meiko is crushed. He basically disses Meiko until episode 47 when Meiko is about to leave him for good. After this, they stay together.

Namura is unaware of Momoi Ryouko's feelings for him. They were classmates in high school and graduated together from college. They both started teaching at Toryo High School together and have always been close. She has loved him since high school but he never realizes this until she has been unintentionally hurt.

Namura is a hard character to watch. We see Meiko pine for him but he doesn't seem to care much. When we do see him, he is always telling Meiko to grow up and that she is better off without him. Many MB fans believe that when he left in episode 17, it was a very cowardly thing to do. For once, it would have been nice to see his insecurities instead of always hurting Meiko. His main competitions for Meiko's heart is Miwa.
