young man who is looking for something meaningful in his life. He is a master pianist and after an argument with his piano teacher, he leaves home and school and gets a part time job at 'Bobson's' where Miki starts working two months later.
Kei schemes to break Miki and Yuu up and between him and Suzu-chan, they almost succeed. Kei has an obvious dislike for Suzu although it is never explained why. It is easy to see why Kei might need Miki in his life. His need for someone who is kind and giving almost destroys their friendship. Kei's worst episode was number 35 and many people found it difficult to forgive him after that. But, as always, Miki forgives him and Kei starts to show a little more respect. He plays a magnificent piece on the piano for Miki called "For You" during the Christmas episode. After this, he is not see for a few episodes until he comes into 'Bobson's' and tells Miki that he is going
home and back to school.
Kei is gone until episode 55 when he comes back a much more mature man. He now has the confidence to tell Miki how he feels about her. He wants to tell Yuu face to face that he is going to try to get Miki to be his girlfriend but he learns, to his delight, that Yuu is in America. He never pushes Miki into a relationship but he lets her know that he is there for her should she ever need him and believe me, she does need him. After episode 61, we see how mature Kei has become and how deep his love for Miki is. Kei, as one person put it, is the master of well-aimed comments. He speaks with a lot of sarcasm and is actually a funny character to listen to. Kei is the one character in the show that matures the most during the series. He turns from a moody, brooding teenager to be one of the kindest, most gentle, romantic male character in the show. He defiantly is one of my favorites!
"Right after I met Miki,
I noticed that I sat down in front of the piano.
The fingers began to move naturally and...
The sounds surprised me.
I had decided I wouldn't play the piano again.
Miki has a curious power...
To change people's minds, doesn't she.
Her big voice...mistakes...and smile, I watched.
She made me smile naturally.
I hadn't laughed so loudly for a long time.
When I met her for the first time,
I was attracted to her.
When I picked up her medallion,
I think I should've given it back to her,
...and asked her to be my girlfriend...gently.
But I didn't do that.
When I couldn't believe in anybody and left music,
I'd become more messed up than I thought.
But, her smile got into my mind and she changed me gradually.
Then I noticed that I couldn't forget her.
So I'll sit down in front to the piano. It's my decision.
That's all I can do.
I'll play a melody for her.
The melody is melting into her body gradually.
And surely my music will color her mind.
So I'll play a melody now and forever...for her."
