Due to the complexity of the algorithm in HotSpotter and intensive computation in finite element analysis, the minimum hardware and configuration for PC recommended to run the program consists of the following:

IBM PC or compatible with an Intel Pentium processor running at 133 Mhz or greater.
32 MB RAM minimum, recommend 64 MB
VGA monitor and graphics card, 256 colors minimum
Windows compatible mouse
pre-installed Matlab 5.0 or higher version

Equivalent hardware is required on other platforms. Regardless of the platform used to run HotSpotter, Matlab must be pre-installed; systems without Matlab will need to have Matlab installed. A matlab trial version copy (for 30 days) can be downloaded from Mathworks homepage.

NOTE:all files must be located in the same folder

  1. Create and name a new folder where you would like the HotSpotter to be located.
  2. Unzip the contents of the hotspotter30demo.zip file into the new folder.
  3. Run Matlab on your computer and change the current directory to the one where HotSpotter is located by typing "cd hotspotter_directory".
  4. Type "tei" to start running HotSpotter.
