The Annual Exhibition of Michigan Prisoners The exhibitions take place each February at the University of Michigan and are now attended by close to 2000 people. The most recent exhibition included 250 works of art by 120 artists at 35 facilities. Many artists are self-taught, some work with sparse materials or found objects. The exhibitions both help the artists and break stereotypes of prisoners, revealing their talents, perspectives, and rich range of themes. The exhibition is now partially funded by an NEA Access Grant and a Rockefeller PACT grant. |
