"Who is Eugene Moon?" Sometimes I wonder about that myself.

Welcome to the newest version of my home pages. A lot has happened in the past seven months since I last updated these pages (has it really been that long?). I started working on the HTML team of EX: The Online World of Anime & Manga. I graduated from the University of Michigan. I haven't gotten a full-time job. Well, ok. Some things haven't changed. ^_^

Actually, this page wasn't my original idea for a replacement. Inspired after going to the Detroit International Auto Show (where the above photo was taken), I created a page based on an automobile window sticker. The idea got scrapped when I realized that the imagemap is way too big, and the links don't stand out enough.

I recently realized that I was treating these pages as if they were a school project. Well, I've scrapped that attitude and am going to try to have more fun with these pages. I mean, there are times when I curse working on these pages, but most of the time these pages are a lot of fun for me. I hope you enjoy them, too.

I could've been a contender

Ten years ago, my home page made its debut on the World Wide Web, but that's not the beginning of the story. I had actually been introduced to the World Wide Web and NCSA Mosaic by a friend a few months earlier. Maybe if I had known then how big the web would eventually become, I could've gotten an early start and become one of those Internet millionaires. Or maybe not.

Anyways, in a way it's interesting to look back at all the things that have happened over those years. I graduated from U of M. I held a few jobs. I went back to school and got an MS in CS from UIC. And now I'm working in New York City.

Since my pages first hit the web back in June of '95, I've gone from having a tiled background to incorporating animated GIFs and images of 3-D text in my pages (and even animated GIFs of rotating 3-D text) to pages where I make extensive use of my newly developed skills with Photoshop to create images with edges that blend into the background. My last version used server-side includes, JavaScript rollovers, and a little bit of Cascading Style Sheets.

Once a Michigander, always a Michigander

So having grown up in Michigan, a few things can be taken as given. I love cars. I'm a fan of the Detroit sports teams. I'm not so blind that I think Barry Sanders was the greatest NFL running back ever, but I think he was among the most exciting to watch (right up there with Gayle Sayers, Walter Payton, and Jim Brown).

After living for six years in Chicago, I sort of consider that my second home. Meijer's. Portillo's. Mmmmmmmm.
