Ellis, Edward, of St Saviour, leatherseller.  Testator is sick in body.  Asks to be buried in St Saviour church as near as possible to his wife.  Bequest to the poor of the Liberty of the Clink.  His executor to sell all his house and shop at Oswestry, Shropshire, and all his tools and other working things; the money so raised to be divided equally among his brothers; the money to be delivered to his cousin Nicholas Hill for their use when they are 21 or at expiry of their apprenticeships.  The lease of house he lives in also to be sold and money distributed as above.

Emerson (Emmerson), Humphrey, of St Saviour, gentleman.  A bequests to the parish poor.  A bequest — after the death of his wife — of all his gardens etc. in Maid Lane, now in the tenure of Bartholomew Lumbert, to the governors of the St Saviour Free Grammar School, the income to be used for ‘the enlarginge and betteringe of the schoole’.  Has gardens in Maid Lane.  Has lands at Dulwich (‘Dullege’).  A conditional bequest to Henry Emerson his cousin: if Henry abides by a covenant of 26 October 1603 about what portions Henry's sisters and brother should have after their [sic; the testator's?] death, then all his tenements in the occupation of widow Halsey, Richard Johnson, widow Haley (deceased), and widow Gootheram, also the counter house now in the tenure of the wardens and keepers of the Bridge House, and also the Market Hill, to pass to him and his heirs after the death of the testator's wife.  But if Henry refuses the covenant, then after the testator's wife's death everything to go to Thomas Emerson his cousin.  If Henry causes the testator's wife any problem, then she to have the reversion of the Axe Yard, willed to the testator by Henry's father for the bringing up of the children.
