LSA Building Under Renovations

Built in 1948, the Administration Building (now LSA building) was built to house business, administrative, and public service departments, as well as the University Broadcasting Service.[24]

The LSA building is located on State Street next door to the Michigan Union.  The construction of this building came at the price of several houses, Morris Hall, a service station and two other buildings.[24]  Detroit architects, Harley, Ellington, and Day were awarded contracts in December of 1944, and ground was broken in 1946.  The construction cost for the building was $2,275,067.00.[24]

This five story building is most remembered for its light salmon colored brick which stands out from the surrounding buildings.  The building exterior features sculptures by Marshall Fredericks and a large clock, eleven feet in diameter, above the front entrance.[24]
