Completed in 1949, Alice Lloyd Hall could house more than 500 girls. [57]  The building is located on Observatory Street between Mosher-Jordan Hall and the Detroit Observatory.  It took nearly three years to complete due to a low availability of building materials.[57]

Alice Lloyd is a six story brick structure with limestone trim.  From the sky, the longest portion of the building runs parallel to Palmer Field.  Two wings extend toward Observatory Street, with one containing the lobby, lounges, and a convenience store called “Alice’s Place.”[57]

The residence hall gets its name from Alice Crocker Lloyd, who served on the Advisers of Women Students group and also served as the Dean of Women.  After her death on March 3, 1950, the building was named in her honor.[57]

Today, Alice Lloyd is a coed residence.
