Named in honor of Judge Victor H. Lane, the building was opened on March 2, 1917.[68]
The three story, colonial style building originally housed the
Young Men’s Christian Association. It
later became home to the Student Religious Association which the university
eventually changed to the Office of Religious Affairs. However, the ORA eventually moved out of
Lane Hall when the new Student
Activities Building was constructed.[68] Until 1997, the building was occupied by
the School of Music for rehearsals and various international studies
programs. Today, the building houses
the Institute for Research On Women and Gender.[12]
