With the growing number of students seeking postgraduate study in dentistry, it became necessary that a building be constructed to fit their needs.  President Ruthven submitted a proposal to the regents which split the costs of the project.[66]  Fifty-five percent of the funding would come from the Kellogg Foundation and the remaining forty-five percent would be funded through the Public Works Administration.  The total cost of the project was $446,355.[66]

Located on Fletcher Street, the three story red brick structure was completed in 1940.  It was designed by Lewis Sarvis of Battle Creek, and constructed by O. W. Burke Company.[66]  The main entrance from the street features a tall glass window above the doors with decorative copper grating.  The overall architecture is very similar to the neighboring Health Services Building.

Today, an interesting attraction to see is the Sindecuse Museum of Dentistry located on the main level of what was once a courtyard.  The museum shows the progression of the technology and instruments used by dentists over the years.[105]
