Located on Sybil Street, Fletcher Hall was constructed in 1923 by a group of alumni.  It was originally a men’s dormitory, but not owned by the University.[86]

There were many early problems with this building in that the rooms were too small for the 124 students living in the building, it was far from the main campus, and the depression made it difficult for the Alumni Association to maintain.  The building was eventually turned over to the University and extensive renovations were done to convert all the rooms into singles.[86]  In 1954, to compensate for the housing shortage, the single rooms were remodeled and joined to form triple rooms to bring the capacity up to eighty occupants.  During that time, it was used to house women.[86]

The architecture of Fletcher Hall is a rectangle building with the shortest end meeting at the street.  It is four stories and has a brick exterior with limestone trim around the front door and between the floors.[86]
