"Koushi" is Japanese for a lecturer, i.e. the lowest grade of 
instructor. Kaen is trying to be polite. (I'm not sure that 
'Koushi-sensei' is any more polite than 'Surname-sensei,' but Kaen's from 
Kutou, not Japan, anyway -- you must excuse her occasional mangling of 
the language.)
