This course deals with geologic processes that impact human activities.
No previous training in geology is required for the course,
although we will use some basic high school chemistry and physics.
The class meets each week for 3 lectures (1PM, MWF) and 1 required discussion section,
as indicated in the time schedule. A lecture time schedule is attached.
Books for the course are:
1) Murck, Skinner, and Porter, 1996, Environmental Geology: John Wiley, New York.
2) Foley, McKenzie, and Utgard, 1999, Investigations in Environmental Geology 2nd Ed., Prentice Hall
Both are available at local bookstores.
Grading will be based on two hour exams, the final exam, and discussion tests/assignments.
Grades will be calculated using the following weightings:
Class Exams there will be two exams 35%
Exercises and other Discussion Section Homework  30%
Final Exam  30%
