Homework #1-Introductory Observations

1. Make a list of possible contacts to find a veteran who you can interview over this semester. (Organizations, friends, family, others...)
What type of veteran would you most like to interview? Why?

2. List who you actually contacted. Any results?

3. Watch the "Tommy's Story" video from the Stories of Service web site( http://www.stories-of-service.org/index/stories)
Make note of EVERY element that make up this video (images, audio, video, etc.). (This will give you a basic idea of how much material it takes to make a more interesting video rather than just a "talking head" style piece).

4. Read the excerpt from the book, "Bloods: An Oral History of Blacks in Vietnam," by Randall Terry (located on C-Tools>Library Reserves)
Familiarize yourself with his location and timeframe in the progression of this war. How is this soldier's experience different or similar from the current experience of serving in Iraq?
