Veteran's Video Portrait

Video Portrait in 2 parts
FINAL DEADLINE: TUES. DEC. 12, 2006

1) Straight video footage collected and burned to DVD for Library of Congress Project (1-2 hours)**
2) Pictorial version of 1-2 key stories using the vet's photos, maps, letters, etc. (5-10 mins)
**You must show a signed release form

 

TUES. OCT. 31

1ST CRITIQUE: DRAFTS DUE, bring tapes to class:
1) Select a choice 5 min. excerpt for the class to view so they can better understand your vet. Cue the tape.
2) Create 1-2 mins. of your video portrait using other visuals such as photos, maps, texts, journals, etc.
export it from Final Cut Pro and put it on a mini-DV tape OR a blank DVD-R
TUES. NOV. 7 2ND CRITIQUE: bring tapes to class:
1) Create a smoothly flowing 2-3 mins. of your VISUAL video portrait using images relevant to your vet, output it to tape or DVD
2) Select a different 5 mins. excerpt of your vet to show the class, cue the tape
TUES. NOV. 21 3RD CRITIQUE: Focusing on your VISUAL video (5-10 mins.)
Focus on the Visuals and how they coordinate with the audio, interview footage, this particular story as a whole. Add music or other audio if suitable.
Output to tape.
TUES. NOV. 28 Analysis of your video by your veteran
Show your veteran what you've created so far. Write down their feedback and present it to class. BLOG it. 
TUES. DEC. 12

FINAL PROJECTS DUE TODAY
Turn in:
1) TWO Release forms (one for you and one for your vet)

2) 3 DVD's are due:

A) DVD formatted using I-DVD with your short (approx. )10 mins. --give this DVD to me for grading. I will return it to you so you can give it to your vet.

B) DATA DVD for me- that contains
i) raw, uncompressed QUICKTIME MOVIE of your short,

C) DATA DVD for LIBRARY OF CONGRESS- that contains
i) raw, uncompressed QUICKTIME MOVIE of your short,
ii) (if you choose to) raw, uncompressed QUICKTIME MOVIE of some your longer, unedited footage
Please group this footage by them. Make it clear what question the vet is answering.
