Written Homework #1
EVERYDAY IMAGES: A DECONSTRUCTION
Due Thurs. Jan. 17, 1:30 pm
Turn in, with this assignment, the 2 images you are writing about.
As you begin to learn about digital imaging and the ease and ordinariness of manipulating images, you should begin to "see" everyday images with new eyes. Many people say that in order to understand how something is made, you need to FIRST take it apart. For this small assignment, and for others later in the semester, find images that appear "natural" but perhaps couldn't be, offer strange juxtapositions, surreal possibilities, or simply couldn't be done any other way except for digital imaging techniques. Pick images that you are interested in writing about, that grabbed you, or puzzled or amazed you, made you laugh or cry. Deconstruct each one:
Image 1: Based on what you know, how do you think this image was constructed? what are its images/parts? how many does it have? Why did you pick it?
Image 2: Based on what you know, how do you think this image was constructed? what are its images/parts? how many does it have? Why did you pick it?
