Making sound files:
1. Open Sound Edit 16 (inside Audio/Video part of the launcher/harddrive)
2. In Sound Edit: File>Open>name of your file (hopefully a .wav, .aiff, or a quicktime movie, or a
file from a CD)
3.Cut it up, add tracks, add effects, change pitch, etc...
4. SAVE 2 VERSIONS OF YOUR AUDIO FILE:
A) Your "master" AIFF file which contains all the original, separate tracks
This way you can go back later and make smaller changes if necessary
File>Save As>AIFF (can be 16 bit, 44 khz)
B) A compressed, MIXED version of your file--THIS FILE SHOULD BE SMALL ENOUGH TO DOWNLOAD
First modify the sound format to make it smaller
Modify>Sound Format>22khz, 8 bit
Select all the tracks (Edit>Select ALL) and then Effects>Mix
This will "flatten" the sound file to make it have only 1 or 2 tracks
Save as filemix.aiff or .wav
5. Upload your .wav or .aiff up to your web site. Upload your Simple Text html file to your web site also.
6. Look at your page using Netscape: http://www.umich.edu/~your_uniquename/filename.html
