about me

current activity

In May 2001 I graduated from the University of Michigan with an M.S. in mathematics, and then spent about two months traveling. It was a great trip, and I wrote a summary about it for you to read. Now I work for Professor Homer Neal in the U-M Physics Department as a Research Associate, where I coordinate the daily activities of the the Web Lecture Archive Project and the ATLAS Collaboratory Project. I have also been involved in projects for the Fermilab DØ Experiment. The Web Lecture Archive Project is a joint effort at U-M and CERN, where I've been fortunate enough to travel a few times. I have been writing a lot of Perl and a little C++ code, and some VisualBasic, which I hate, but it gets the job done. In my spare time I like to windsurf, sail, run, lift weights and hang out with friends, and I travel whenever I can. I am interested in learning more about grid computing and automated metadata extraction, among other things.

employment

I find my job challenging and fun, but if you are prepared to throw a lot of money at me, you can look at my out-of-date resume (Word 97) and contact me at RhyminS AT yahoo DOT com (trying to avoid robot spam).

comments

I wrote these pages to learn some HTML and provide pictures of my travels, so if you have comments or suggestions about it, please send me an email - I appreciate feedback.
