Okay, so life as a student at Oxford has kept me sufficiently busy to prevent me from posting any pictures of my surroundings the past six weeks. Thankfully my time hasn't been entirely spent on work...have done my fair share of socializing and pub-hopping as well. Anyway, on to the photos!
Okay, so now to go on a little tour of my college! (A bit of background for some of y'all- Oxford University is made up of about 40 distinct colleges, each relatively independant entities. I attend Lady Margaret Hall (LMH), which is located rather far off from most of the others (18 min walk to city center!)...aka- I live in the boonies...)
As you head north of the center of Oxford, you eventually make your way towards LMH. Just a view of the entrance from the street so you can get an idea of the surrounding area.
The main entrance closer up. Yeah, my first thought upon arriving was "Why the huge walls? Who we going to war against?" Functional critiques aside, it's kind of cool and impressive.
Once through the entrance, you enter the notorious LMH quad. Aside from looking pretty, it is the site where "quadding" occurs. Quadding = If you don't sink a single ball in a game of pool or lose 10-0 at foosball in the bar, you must make a lap around the quad in only your underwear. It's a good thing I don't play pool and am really good at foosball ;-D
Through a little arched passage on the left of the quad, lies a few dorm-type buildings. One of which is mine - Deneke. You can't see my room from here, but myself and most of the other Americans got ghettoed into the top floor...it's actually not bad as it was just renovated from an attic to accomidation 2 years ago and so it's all new. Have to climb 60 steps to get there though...which can be a bit bothersome after a night out!

So these pictures, put together, would give you a rough idea of what my room looks like. Compared to US dormitories, it's huge - especially since I don't have to share it with anyone. Behind the corner are a tiny closet (the one downside to the room) and a sink-mirror-cabinet behind a door. I have since re-arranged the room and if I get bored enough will update with new pics.
