So, after a term of intense work (mixed up with some intense fun, of course) in Oxford, it was finally time for our well-deserved break...I had a bit over a week between my last tutorial and my flight home, and decided to spend the majority seeing a bit of northern England...and Manchester, being the third largest city in this country, home to the most popular (does my bias show?) footy team, and (most importantly) where my rockin' friend Cathers offered me a free place to stay, was a natural first choice.

Speaking of Cathers...here are the two of us, goofing off as per usual. Actually I was rather impressed with this pic, as it was one of those "hold the camera at arm's length and hope for the best." Anyway...

The central shopping area of Manchester, crammed full of all your typical UK shops and heaps of late holiday shoppers. The main mall is the Arndale Center, the site of a big bombing by the IRA in 1996. Also- the site where I picked up my class new Puma trainers ;-)

The main library of Manchester...stuck in the middle of the very modern city center, its smooth Roman architecture was a nice contrast to the (ugly) buildings that surrounded it.

Okay...umm...I just hope I'm not on the "naughty" list. Scary.

More of Manchester!
