Andrew Stelzer graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Toledo in the spring of 2006 with a BS in Chemistry. During his undergraduate tenure Andrew worked in several research labs as a research assistant: Yun-Ming Lin PhD - synthesis of Nakijiquinone intermediates (Summer Research Fellowship), Alan Pinkerton PhD - small molecule X-ray crystallography, Xiche Hu PhD - computational chemistry with a focus on thermodynamics of peptide binding, and Jon Kirchhoff PhD ¨C analytical chemistry with a focus on understanding the electrochemical properties of neurological transmitters. Andrew has since matriculated at the University of Michigan where he is entering his first year of study in the Chemical Biology Doctoral Program.
During the summer of 2006 Andrew was a Summer Institute fellow and rotated in the Al-Hashimi lab where he investigated stereoviews of RNA via inverse domain elongation, and docking of small molecules to RNA with a focus on understanding the dynamics of HIV-1 TAR and therapeutic design. |
