Vector Poem

Vector Poem is an interactive poetry application originally conceived by Thylias Moss, Professor of English Language and Literature at the University of Michigan, and authored by myself in Adobe Flash.

Dr. Moss wished for students to be able to represent their poetry as a series of movable blocks which can be rearranged at will and made to appear closer or farther from the viewer.

Other functionality includes the ability to:
> use a maximum of eight text blocks
> change the background
> use other shapes and colors for text blocks
> use images for text blocks
> scroll through different words and phrases within a text block
> randomize the text for one or all text blocks
> reset all values to their starting state

Students are also able to change default sizes of the Word Blocks and Toolbox. Thanks to the flexibility of Flash, other possibilities abound, such as adding sound effects, music, animations or more interactivity.

Original poetry supplied by Lynne Crandall.
