An explanation of the Ekman Spiral

The Gyre Project was funded by a small grant awarded to Dr. Ingrid Hendy of the University of Michigan's Geology Department.

This presentation provides a step-by-step explanation of the mid-ocean gyre phenomenon. Each screen has a full resolution 3D animation illustrating key processes, as well as optional text explanations. An interactive glossary offers definitions for potentially difficult terminology.

Download the presentation for viewing below. The files are large and may take several minutes to download on a slower connection.
