Open House 2010 [Tentative Dates Jan 5 & 12, 2010]

The following is the program for the Open Houses in recent years. The programs for the two days in early January will be similar.

If you haven't already done so, please let us know by December 31st which Open House date you are planning to atend, by sending a message using the Choice of Open House Date response page.

You should plan on arriving at the VA Hospital by 8:30 AM on the morning of the Open House. Coffee and juice and bagels/doughnuts are available throughout the Open House presentations. If you are staying overnight the night before, the nearest motels can be found by going to a search engine like Yahoo or Google and asking for hotels and motels in Ann Arbor Michigan (zip 48105). There are some motels on Plymouth Road (one of them, The Red Roof Inn [North], gives a VA discount, so you might want to check on that one), and these are fairly close to the hospital. Here is info about two of the possible places to stay. To get the discount for the Open House, bring some kind of information showing that you are attending (this could be the email confirmation or even the page detailing the events and schedule). If you're coming by car, you can park in the visitor lot for the Hospital off Glazier Way (near the east end of the medical center).


The first part of the Open House will be in the Auditorium of the Hospital. Enter the hospital from the parking lot or enter the main entrance and someone from the Training Program will direct you to the Auditorium.

Between 8:45 and 9:15 AM the Director of Training, Dr. Kenneth Adams, will welcome you and will give a general overview of the Open House activities.

The following is the planned schedule of presentations during the Open House.

Individual interviews are not possible, so we encourage applicants to talk to the interns currently assigned to the rotations that interest them so they can hear more about what can be learned in those particular settings.
