Description: Printed Congressional committee hearings were often published in the Serial Set during the 19th Century. Paper copies were distributed to federal depository libraries around World War I. The printed hearings being issued today are much more complete than the excerpted statements appearing online through Congressional Universe. The Documents Center should have all hearings on microfiche since 1789. Paper copies of most hearings are available in paper until 1982 and the most popular hearings since 1983. All paper hearings may be circulated from the library. Most are listed in MIRLYN [http://mirlyn.lib.umich.edu/] though the most comprehensive index is Congressional Universe [http://web.lexis-nexis.com/congcomp/].

Throughout the 19th Century the serial set was the primary vehicle for distributing Executive Branch publications, although a few of them escaped into the U.S. Executive Branch Collection listed below. The full text web version is new as of September 2005 and provides complete indexing for reports within reports, names of Civil Wars pensioners, patents, etc. Full text in pdf format. Historical Statistics of the United States (UMich Only)

Description: Over 37,000 time series of U.S. demographic and economic data, primarily 1789-1995. Age, health, education, employment, income, GNP, prices, industry, elections. A section on colonial statistics appears in Chapter E: Governance and International Relations. Most tables are national in scope. It is easiest to find data through the alphabetic index or advanced search engine. Tables may be viewed in pdf for html format. Downloads can be in csv or zipped Excel format and include documentation. Excellent notes indicate when the statistic was first taken and cite sources. This is a commercial product that updates and expands the Census Bureau's - Historical Statistics of the United States, Colonial Times to 1970

Provides location, call number, and circulation status. MIRLYN includes URLs of major scholarly and many government web sites. Also provides access of separate campus collections at Law, Business Administration, Bentley, and Clements. Registered MIRLYN users can retrieve publications from another campus library or Buhr and renew booksinitiate inter-library loan through MIRLYN itself or renew a book.
