U.S. data on population, industry, foreign trade, education, national accounts, government employment and budgets, elections, and prices between 1789 and 1970. Most statistics are limited to the national level. Notes at the beginning of a chapter cite sources, including difficult-to-find material from the 19th Century. Some colonial statistics.

When the screen opens with the terms Cambridge University Press and Historical Statistics, click on the blue book icon at the top of the screen

The menu will appear on the left and be divided into chapters
Your two options are to SEARCH it or to BROWSE it by expansion.

To SEARCH the contents
- Ignore the flashlight with the red circle and line.
- Click on the FIND box and type in your term.
- This will identify a chapter in which the term is used.

Then click on the icon with a book and flashlight.
You will see a pop-up box with your search term. Keep pressing the NEXT button to search the text.

To BROWSE the contents
- Click on the + next to the chapter to expand it

Either click on notes or series
At the next menu, click to open the note or table on the righthand side of the screen

For printing
- Click on File/Print
- Check the default printer to make sure it is correct
Saving to Disk
1. Click on red link of your table that says Lotus 1-2-3 (spreadsheet) or Text
  - This is simpler and less error-prone than the File/Export Command
2. Choose the drive
3. Choose the format (Lotus 1-2-3 or Text)
4. Name the file
5. Click OK

A Lotus 1-2-3 file has a .wk1 extension. It should open up in an Excel (xls) spreadsheet.
