These data are preliminary and should not be used for official purposes.

In this preliminary release, we have been extremely cautious in stating the accuracy of a few of the estimates, and they are actually more accurate than indicated by the upper and lower bounds shown in these tables. These estimates are: (a) county totals and percentages of age, race, sex, and Hispanic origin, and their combinations, and (b) all aggregates, means, medians, per capita amounts, and ratios. After further review of the data, we will be able to narrow these bounds and will revise the tables accordingly. In some cases, the upper and lower bounds will be substantially closer to each other. We do not, however, anticipate any changes to the estimates themselves.

Data are based on a sample and are subject to sampling variability. The degree of uncertainty for an estimate is represented through the use of a confidence interval. The confidence interval computed here is a 90 percent confidence interval and can be interpreted roughly as providing 90 percent certainty that the true number falls between the lower and upper bounds.

1. An '**' entry in the lower and upper bound columns indicates that no sample observations were available to compute a standard error and thus the lower and upper bounds. A statistical test is not appropriate.

2. An '-' entry in the estimate column indicates that no sample observations were available to compute an estimate.

3. An '*****' entry in the lower and upper bound columns indicates that the estimate is controlled. A statistical test is not appropriate.
