ADMINISTRATIVE NOTES Newsletter of the Federal Depository Library Program ------------------------------------------------------------------------ January 15, 2000 GP 3.16/3-2:21/02 (Vol. 21, no. 02) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ New Depository Passwords Issued for STAT-USA Instant Log-In Inaugurated [The following notice was supplied by STAT-USA.] Over the past several years, STAT-USA has provided the Federal depository library community with over 800 complimentary single-user accounts to our Internet service. Many of the passwords are now over two years old. We feel that the time has come for us to issue new passwords to our service. Therefore, effective Tuesday, February 1, 2000, your current password will no longer be valid. In the interest of security, information about your new password will be dropped in your GPO boxes the week ending January 7, 2000. STAT-USA is proud to be a contributing member of the Federal Depository Library Program. We regret this minor inconvenience, but we're sure you understand our need to periodically update passwords. We ask that you take whatever steps are necessary to ensure that your institution's username and password are secured and used in a single-station environment only. Our sincerest thanks to all of you who have acquired site licenses over and above this complimentary account so that STAT-USA/Internet can be accessed from computers across your campuses or other facilities. As we travel to various library trade shows, conferences, and training venues, we look forward to meeting you and receiving feedback about our services. It is with pleasure that we can announce the upcoming implementation of a new feature specifically requested by the library community: Instant Log-In! Many of you have asked for a place to log-on before library customers begin research on the site. Your requests have been heard and Instant Log-In is a reality. Next time you're using STAT-USA/Internet, look for the familiar STAT-USA "globe and key" icon on the homepage, that's your prompt for early log-in! Thank you all for your continued support of STAT-USA.
