SUDOCS LETTER: DESTROY CENSUS BUREAU MANUAL

   [The following letter was sent to all depository libraries.]

   March 15, 1999

   Dear Depository Librarian:

   The Library Programs Service (LPS) was recently apprised by the U.S.
   Census Bureau that the Field Operations Manual, 1998 should not have
   been distributed to depository libraries. The Census Bureau has
   advised us that the publication was for internal use only.

   Descriptive information on the publication:

             Title: Field Operations Manual, 1998
             Shipping List Number: 98-0286-P
             Shipping List Date: June 28, 1998
             Item Number: 0146-A
             SuDocs Number: C 3.6/2:F 45/8

   I am requesting that you immediately withdraw the publication and
   destroy it by any means that will prevent disclosure of its contents.
