Just to give you a rough sketch of who I am, I was born and bred in Illinois and spent three years of my life at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. It's known as "IMSA" for short, but that doesn't give you the full impact of its nerdiness. Really, it's not that bad. Then again, there aren't many high schools that offer classes like Astrophysics, Pathogenic Microbiology, Multivariable Calculus, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Linear Algebra. OK, so maybe it was pretty bad. But hey, I survived relatively unscathed! I think...

Anyway, more recently, I've moved on to become a medical student just finishing my third year here at the University of Michigan Medical School, having graduated with a joint degree in English and Biomedical Sciences from here as well. For a while I was employed with the ITD Computing Sites as a computer consultant, but med school has ended that little stint. I also recently completed the database project I was doing for the 3D Ultrasound project for the Department of Fetal Imaging at William Beaumont Hospital, so now, I have no source of income other than my parents and Uncle Sam (who I've learned isn't as generous as my parents are). Since that doesn't exactly pay the bills, I also do some freelance web design when time permits. Which it rarely does, btw.

I've just completed my Internal Medicine and Pediatrics subinternships at the UM Medical Center, affectionately known as the Mecca. I'm hoping to secure a residency in Med/Peds which will give me certification in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. At this point, I haven't decided whether I will want to stay in primary care of pursue subspecialty training in Heme/Onc. It's kind of an unusual field to want to specialize in, I know, but I've been seeing this infomercial for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and I always think, "Wow, that's what I want to do!" Then again, that has a tendency to change from one clerkship to another, so don't quote me on that or anything.

In my spare time (insert laughter here), I DJ parties with my friend, collect records, CDs, and other artifacts of pop culture, work on my own webpage, play the acoustic guitar, veg in front of the TV, and study. Not that I'm a nerd or anything, but you're got to keep up with your reading or else you may get hammered by your attendings. Anyone who watches ER knows how pleasant that can be...

OK, well enough about me. Check out the rest of the webpage as it is bound to be more interesting than my little bio has been. Cheers!
