God War, The (pn.)
With the defeat of The Enemy came a period when great powers created by the Golden Age civilization turned upon themselves as a new order struggled to come into existance. The last vestiges of the once great civilization were cast off and a period of power weilded only by individuals came into being. The result of the God War was a "live and live" and uneasy truce between those who would be gods. An agreement between the new gods brought this era to and end.

Golden Age, The (pn.)
Even the name of this period is anachronistic, representing the culture that dominated Nexus 9 before the Reality and God Wars. The ruins of the Golden Age are pervasive and very impressive throughout all of Nexus 9.

Legend
An individual, group, artifact, etc. whose origins are obscure (most likely going back to the God Wars or before) and may or may not be extant. As individuals, Legends are not precisely Gods or Heroes (but the status' are not mutually exclusive) in so far as their power level is concerned. It is more based on the level of interaction that a Legend has in "current affairs", etc., which is very low to non-existent.

Life Certificate (n.)

Matrix (n.)

N-Space (pn.)
See Null Space.

N-Space Burn (n.)
Direct exposure to N-Space, even for the briefest times, can lead to this syndrom. Starting with extremities and find features, dissolution occurs. If the individual is stabilized after brief exposure, all that will be lost are such things as finger prints or fingers, toes, body hair, nose, etc. What is left is smooth featureless skin. Longer exposure may result in the loss of significant portions of limbs and a smaller head (with corresponding loss of intellectual capacity).

N-Space Sickness (n.)
This is the result of viewing N-Space. Short viewing causes nausia while longer viewing can lead to insanity. Frequently described as a roiling grey void seeping into ones brain.

Null Space (pn.)
A "dimension" or space that nothing can exist within except as a smear of probability. Magic (and theoretically "technological" methods) is required to prevent matter or energy from "fading" into a "potentially" pattern. Some consider Null Space to be raw chaos. Also known as N-Space and the Fade. Null Space appears as a featureless grey void that nothing and anything that one looks for exists.

Open Magic System (n.)
A Magic System that allows the Magic User to construct and Cast Spells based on a system of basic or core Spell Effects, either in real time or through research.

An opening between N-Space and R-Space.

R-Space (n.)
See Real Space.

Real Space (or R-Space) (n.)
Any space that is sufficiently stable to allow the existance of matter and energy.

Real Space Bubble (n.)
Real Space that exists "directly" in N-Space usually because as a result of the existance of a Monolith.

Reality War, The (pn.)
When teh Golden Age civilization encountered The Enemy the inevitable result was the Reality War, a clash for the very existance of civilization. So called because of long lasting effects that resulted, the most notable the damage to the Web and Monoliths throughout Nexus 9 and elsewhere within The Web.

Sim

Soul (n.)
Is a physically incarnate's parallel to the Spirit. Souls are "bound" to a physical body or were bound at some time in the past. The coupling between a Soul and a body is a close one. As long as a Soul is connected to ta body, then changes in the body will effect the Sould and visa-versa. A Soul "remembers" it's body and it is possible to reconstruct the body from information that the Soul has. This process is difficult, more of an art than a science. Body's "remember" their Souls and there is a tendancy for a body to "reject" implanted Souls. It also happens that a body might slowly transform an implanted Soul into it's former Soul. The central nervous system is the seat of the Soul. The younger the central nervous system, the easier ti is to transplant a Soul into it. Without a body (or some other tie to the Soul) it is a significant undertaking to find a Soul. This can be complicated (or simplified) by the religous background of the Soul.

Spell (n.)
A specific set of Magical effects invoked as a unit.

Spell Effect (n.)
A basic Effect that spells are constructed from.

Spell, Great (n.)
A spell (usually of historical origin) whose magnitude and or complexity far surpasses most other spells.

A mass-less self perpetuating (within the influence of a Monolith) life form. Spirits are normally found in M-Space. Some Spirits are capable of projecting a presence into R-Space. A Spriti interacting with R-Space will typically casuea heat-shimmer sort of effect and an extremely dim glow, normally only visible in extremely low light. There is a low level magic trace. Other effects are known and dependent upon the type of the Spirit. It is widely held theory that Spirits are tightly coupled to the interactions that occur between a Monolith and it's surroundings.

Static Magic Systems (n.)
A Magic System under which only pre-defined Spells are available. Some Static Systems allow the expansion of the Spells available (usually by external processes).

Subscription Magic System (n.)
