Biography
Evgueni Filipov
I am an Assistant Professor at the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Michigan. My recent research has focused on the structural behavior of deployable and origami type systems. In the future, I plan to build upon this research and to begin exploring practical engineering applications with origami-inspired design. The versatility, functionality, and self-assembly capability of the folding systems makes them suitable at multiple scales and in various disciplines. In the future, we can expect to see applications ranging from metamaterials and micro-robotics to deployable architecture and aerospace structures. In the in the 2017 Winter term I will be teaching the CEE 511 - Structural Dynamics course. I am currently looking for graduate and undergraduate students to join my research group.
