  • 1961. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. Grew up in Deerfield, Illinois.
  • 1984. Elected to associateship in Sigma Xi scientific research honors society.
  • 1985. Bachelor of Music in composition from Oberlin Conservatory. Johnson/Maile Fellowship to Stanford University.
  • 1986. Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Oberlin College.
  • 1987. Master of Arts in music from Stanford University. Regents Fellowship to University of Michigan.
  • 1991. Doctor of Musical Arts from University of Michigan. First prize, Feruccio Busoni Foundation Young Composers Competition.
  • 1999. First CD, Kabala, released.
  • 2002. Honorable Mention, Harvey Gaul Competition of the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble. Second Prize in instrumental composition, Utah Composers Guild Competition.
