Time passes. The good news is that the countertop only took two weeks instead of three. Of course, originally I'd been told getting the countertop would only take about a week, but apparently the finish I chose is considered special (it's matte, but it turns out that's not the standard finish for the pattern I chose) and the bevel edge takes extra labor and time to make. So, on the one hand, it took a week longer than I'd originally planned, but on the plus side, two weeks is still better than three.

While I waited, I primed the areas behind where the appliances would go, since this was the easiest time to do that. I at least managed to get the spots where the wall had never been painted or had wall paper on it, so it was still the bare wood.

The appliances were delivered in the morning, along with the sink. Another silver lining, I suppose, to the countertops taking two weeks instead of the originally expected one, is that the sink wouldn't have come in yet anyway. The countertops were installed in the afternoon.

The wall where the microwave will go - the bare wood's all been covered with primer. The now primed wall behind where the dishwasher will go.

My new stove - yes, those are two ovens. The smaller one heats up pretty fast, and is going to replace my toaster oven. My new refrigerator! As you can see, it isn't in place yet - it's waiting until the flooring is done. The sink is in the Elkay box in the foreground.

The big countertop piece, before the hole for the sink is cut. The smaller piece for next to the refrigerator.

The smallest countertop. Unfortunately, it had a scratch in it, so it had to be reordered. Good thing it wasn't the piece the sink goes in, or I'd still be without a sink! A close-up of the scratch.

The corner of the countertop, with the sink hole cut and backsplash installed. A longer view of the big countertop piece - notice the range is currently lower than the counter.

Another shot of the counter next to the refrigerator, now with the completed backsplash. The countertop table for the eating area. The support brackets weren't in yet, so they had to rig something temporary.
