Tacked to begin gamma patrol, as ordered: cleared past shallows.
Slow going, lack of wind.
No longer facing into blasted sun.

Wind rising, finally.

8:08 a.m.
Same: wind WSW 15 knots - 12 knots N to NNE.
Fog to starboard 25 degrees - veering to investigate.

8:16 a.m.

Burned off - nothing unusual.

Sailor Holmes dismissed, quarantined 'til recovers from flu - extra half
shift scrubbing next liberty - failure to report illness before possible
contamination - acknowledged willingness to work ill.  Fortunately he had
little contact with rest of crew last twelve hours.  One less sword in an
emergency - too weak.
