From seddy@deathstar.orgSun Apr 2 18:58:40 1995 Date: Sun, 2 Apr 1995 11:16:36 -0400 (EDT) From: Sean Frost To: thari Subject: usires 63 Usires (mega-session 63) I suspect if I live for a hundred years, Amberites will continue to seem strange. Ariana's wedding is yet another example. I have the distinct impression she was not pleased with my presence. I can understand why she might not like me, but it's been a few years now, and I have avoided annoying her since. She ought to get over it. Indifference would be reasonable. Anyway, wedding are joyous times, especially if they end like this, so pleasantly, that should be celebrated by the whole clan. So, of course, when Bartholomew told me of the wedding and asked if I would like to join him, I readily agreed to go with him. Of course once we arrived here I realized that not all the Amberites had shown up. Caine for instance. And Bartholomew came representing his father's Chaos family. Weddings obviously are held differently than in Rimmersgard where everyone just shows up. Damn, I've got to stop doing that. One of these days underestimating the women of Amber will get me slapped down if I don't. Like Barnabas. I respected Llewella already but now....hmm. I thought only Chaosites could shape change. Interesting... That pretty much covers the whole day, actually. First the earthquake, which was just like those old sailors described it so long ago in my youth. Obviously the same aquatic phenomenon occurs in Amber as in Rimmersgard. That would have been interesting enough, but we returned to Amber to discover that some other Pattern had disappeared, which I thought was rather close to the impossible side of things. Then Bartholomew and I went looking for his father to find out if he knew anything, while Fiona and Bleys went after Brand. I think Caine sent me with Bartholomew to keep me out of that search party. I good idea, I suppose, since magic is not my strength. Turned out for the best. Anyway, I didn't thik much of Laughter following us at first, but she turned out to be persistent and turned invisible after we found Barnabas. Bartholomew had his usual luck getting information out of members of the other side of his family. Enter Llewella. She forcibly convinced him to talk. I've never seen anyone so unwilling to help family by providing a little information. To the point of attacking me, an obvious ally at the least. I don't think much of Bartholomew's father anymore. It was a pleasure to have him imprisoned even if I knew he would never be sold. I'm sure Benedict's guards informed him of the additional inmate, since I couldn't find him or Random to inform them personally. Bartholomew should have informed Laughter of his apology. He obviously hadn't intended to completely destroy her sword, but Martin obviously realized the danger just from the description of the lava pool. Apparently he was right. She's forging another sword already. I wouldn't know, but Bartholomew is supposed to understand all that stuff. Anyway getting drunk like this doesn't help, but it's the lad's own foolish choice. I'll have to be sure to open this barel up in the morning. I've got to see his face. Now, I wonder what Martin does to celebrate surviving another day. Thank Odin, Thor and Loki! Magic is just too dangerous! How Martin...er...Praise the Unicorn that, that...magic between Brand, Fiona and Bleys did not explode in our faces. Martin seemed calm, but I cannot imagine the infirmary, a few minutes ago, was a safe place to be standing. Fortunately Martin can easily provide the perfect remedy with which to calm/cool down. I wonder how they'll catch Brand now?
