Let's find somewhere to negate enemy weapons, ha. I don't know what I expected, magic escapes me. But there?!? Of what possible value could that shadow be? Off we go, looking for his pool of the blood of the earth and wen we get there, is it useful? Hardly. Such a special pool of "lava" would be great to toss enemy weapons into, but to have such weapons, an enemy would have to already be subdued. What point? So, why did Bartholomew want the place, no...want to _visit_ the place so much? Magic. He played with stones and magic while I was watching out for Hendrakes. It must have been magic. Why would he want to play with magic near a pool of magic destroying lava? Make something? No, he didn't. Work with something dangerous? No, he used stones from the ground. Why find such a pool and...find...He just wanted to know where it was. Why? To go back? Pointless, even if he can get back qui...By Odin's Eye! Teleport, like the Trumps. If he teleports someone's weapon there in the middle of battle...I must be sure not to irritate the lad. And how did Bartholomew know those Hendrakes would be wandering in shadows nearby? He suggested we try to avoid them long beore there were any signs of them. Signs! A crumbling shadow is a major sign that something's up. It turned out for the best, as Bartholomew's grandfather was able to join us on our return to Amber. The Hendrakes seemed to have been forcing the old man to do their shadow destroying for them. Why were they going through with all that bother for us...or was it Bartholomew they were after? Why him, I think I must speak with the lad about these Hendrakes.
