Usires (session 55) What is a minstrel doing in a soup line? I don't believe I've ever seen one perform any physical labor before. Maybe he's not a minstrel. He tells lies like all the other storytellers I've heard. Asgard indeed. ON the other hand Bartholomew is entertaining. Though Felix seems more confused than entertained by Bartholomew's blatant lies and self-contradictions. He seems to be almost like a...half-wit. The others, I hope, were just playing along, or I seriously fear for the intelligence of this clan. Caine and Benedict seem normal at least. Very reasonable in fact. Benedict understood my situation and returned Kvalnir to me with a minimum of fuss. He only asked that I never help Sand, which wasn't too difficult as I'm not sure I like her, personally, all that much. This time I know about Amber. Bartholomew does in fact look like Llewella, she must be his mother. I wonder if he can be part fish like a mermaid? A male mermaid minstrel? This place will take some getting used to. It is even stranger than the lies about Asgard. Like what's with the "pattern" thing. Everyone seems to be able to see some sort of mark on those who've walked it. Everyone here I've met knew I'd walked it and that was only in a vision, I think. And now everyone is so sure Bartholomew has walked it as well. I don't see anything special. Damn what's this "mark" look like? And why the elaborate discussion of Bartholomew's age? Apparently people age differently in different shadows, which explains why everybody in Rimmersgard acted so funny when I returned the same evening I left, when I had been gone two days. I ought to stay away for a long while to allow time for my "trip." I wonder if there's any way to even out the aging here and in Rimmersgard. I feel like I'm cheating the men, but I certainly can't tell them what I've learned. I'd be lynched for sure. At least here I'm only slightly likely to be lynched. Felix stopped threatening me, and I knocked his son around the most. Ariana elf, er...she seemed like the only other person who really wanted to attack me. I suppose I...we ought to get back to work. Or maybe I'll have another plate of that great food.
