I arrived under my own power, alone. Caine, my...Caine explained that I could and how I could. He was right. Caine explained many things. He...he did not deny the water maiden's words. He looks a bit like me. He told me the truth about..."shadow," he...that must have hurt, even for an elf, and I believe he believes he is my father. What do I do with a father anyway? I can barely remember...my foster Dad. But anyway, it gives me reason to believe he didn't lie, especially about Amber. Which is apparently rubble now, recently, by the way everyone was acting, maybe the boom that woke me up? It must have been one hel of a long house, by the pile of rocks. Damn pebbles. Irritating fairy brats, no, not elves, Caine said they were related, humans. Most of the locals who came to see ruined Amber were human, ordinary, not the boulder tossing elves. Caine said that all the elves were related. They were all stronger than ordinary humans, like I am, which makes sense...if we're related...or if we're all gods! No, I am not a god, I think. There was no rainbow on the trip back to Rimmersgard from Asgard...er, Amber. Nor did Amber look like anything in the tales. It must be just Amber. Or a piecemeal Amber actually. Even if they all have magic, they are just mortals, who should have raised their brats no to irritate their elders. In fact the elves...their parents threatened me. I suppose they were under a bit of stress, and...damn, that was not the best introduction to the clan. Sand...ugh. She's apparently related as well, not actually 'one with the clan' though. Why would she imprison relatives? If she's so...evil why not just kill them? Why help me? I need to find out more about this clan. I must go back, to get Kvalnir from one-arm anyway. I shall walk shadow as soon as possible. No, as soon as sober. I should clean my armor, get a new cloak...a weapon! I shouldn't return unarmed, never. I still have my javelin, somewhere. I need a sword...I can 'find what I want in Shadow.' Tomorrow I will get a sword and go to Caine's ship with all those sails.
