I'm unconscious. That elf was as strong as me, or did it use magic? No, I felt no magic, then. Maybe those elven brats weakened me with some fairy magic earlier, or that one-armed elf later on? And where did they come from? And how did the brats get a key? Magic. It must have been. Cursed fairy magic. That fire! Odin, let my eyes heal. I couldn't stand to spend my days as some half-blind useless lump. Damn all magic! I must find some way to defend myself against fairy magic. Assuming I can find some way to escape from the elves. Maybe they'll just leave me. No, I'm probably a hostage now. Damn! How can I secape without magic, and how can I get magic without escaping?...Kvalnir? I've never tried to use it to stop magic, since no one's ever used magic on me bbefore. What about that Ariana elf? Kvalnir got her out of my mind...but that might have been just breaking eye contact, it was staring intently at me at the time. Damn, and I'm sure they'll just give Kvalnir back to me while I'm imprisoned. What did the elves call her?...Sand! Sand might know something about Kvalnir, she said she gave it to me, and she brought me here from Rimmersgard to earn it. Sand...must be an elvish name for her, I don't remember any gods by that name. Or maybe she is a fair Jotun maiden helping the gods. What did that Ariana say about her...Aaa, it doesn't matter, it was probably a clever set of lies anyway. She just used what she saw with that magic to make it seem believable. I wonder what's going on. Why keep elven prisoners instead of just killing or enslaving them? Why set a mortal to guard magic elves, especially in a place so accessible to the rescuers? Damn, was it just some sort of impossible task? The gods have been known to do such things, curse them. I wonder how you get out of this unconciousness thing?
