Foil, year 53, day 110 continued Afternoon Fiona returned, but thankfully she didn't stay for long. She's finally decided to allow Lavender to leave Foil. I wonder what Lavender will think of Amber? In the meantime, I have the library to myself. Maybe I'll find the answers to some of my questions. Gods, no wonder Lavender hates the na siogai. They killed both of her sisters and her niece because they were half-breeds. What kind of people are these? To kill someone simply because they have mixed blood? Do all Faeries feel this way? What about the twins? They are of mixed blood as well... Riftvan claims it's only the Faeries here who feel this way. I wish that reassured me, but it does not. I don't care if this is the hinterlands, we're stuck here for the next two weeks. I was right about one thing, though. Riftvan has been here before. He even knew of Calamus, who apparently sold his family out to the na siogai. What kind of man would do that? I wish I understood how Foil is connected to Tir-na Nog'th. That there is a connection is undeniable It seems that during certain phases of the moon one can circumvent Tir-na Nog'th's trump barrier, which is why I was able to trump Riftvan from there. It's too similar to the way the city in the sky comes and goes to be a coincidence. Riftvan wouldn't explain, of course. He said it would spoil the fun. Somehow I don't find that a very compelling argument. Evening Oooh, I'm going to kill him when he wakes up! I can't believe he did that. In the name of all the gods, what was he thinking? We are Lavender's guests! I don't think I've ever seen him like this before. Eral knows, after what Sand put him through, I can understand wanting to get drunk. When I couldn't find him or the children, the urge to just lose myself in a drunken haze was hard to resist. And I guess I can understand his miscalculating the effects of the wine when he's used to being able to counter them. But they way he acted... It was mean-spirited and Lavender didn't deserve it. Someone like Usires definitely, but not Lavender. And he broke his promise to me. I know he was drunk, but alcohol only removes one's inhibitions so far. If his word meant nothing to him drunk, I have to wonder if it meant anything to him sober. At least he didn't break his promise about going into my mind. although he threatened to. I suppose that means something. Mostly he just acted like a spoiled child. Was he like that when he was young? No wonder he has so many enemies. I'm just so angry with him. Dalt attacked Amber, along with Shard of all people, and I should have been there to help defend her, not playing nursemaid to a 3,000 year old man who should have known better. Not that Dalt had a chance with Benedict present, but still... I won't forgive Riftvan so easily for this night's work. I don't care what Benedict says, I don't think we can wait much longer to deal with Sand. From what Felix told me, she may be responsible for Shard's recent behavior. Eral knows what other mischief she's been up to. How much more time can we waste while she builds up her forces? At least Random is back, so we may move against her soon. If it really is Random. Felix sounded like he had his doubts. I need to find out more about what's happening there. But that can wait until tomorrow morning. Right now, I'm going to get some sleep. Assuming the nightmares don't return.
