Session Eight
		    "Let's just get a posse of chairs."

	Lilith, Rasa, Alastair and Duncan are discussing the Other Pole of
Reality, whatever that might be....  It could be related to the Abyss, but
no one really knows.  They discuss "that guy who was leading the army that
looked just like Alastair," but no one really knows what that is all about
yet.

	Lilith concludes that of the four Pattern Adepts of her
generation, she is the most knowledgeable, Farad is the most powerful,
Alastair is the most sensitive, and Colin is the most skillful.

	Farad awakens in the high-tech cloning Shadow and mind-controls
Sand so she will free him.  He forces her to tell him what's been going
on, and she tells him about the cloning attempt, and how the clone died. 
Farad straps her onto the table he was tied to, then creates a spell to
rain fire for forty days and forty nights on the Shadow, and then
Hellrides off.

	Alastair considers riding to Shadow Earth to talk to Eric, but
decides to keep planning with Rasa and Lilith.  A fake Jewel seems like a
good idea, and Lilith thinks Farad could make one, so Alastair Trumps Sand
to find Farad (since no one has a Trump of Farad).  Alastair immediately
notices Sand's predicament, and goes through to rescue her.  Lilith uses
the Jewel to rid the Shadow of oxygen, so the fire is briefly out -- and
Alastair and Sand can't breathe.  Lilith Trumps Alastair back, and he
brings Sand through; she is passed out.

	Colin is learning mind-healing; he meets up with Suhuy, a man with
mysterious power, who agrees to go with Colin to heal Fiona.  Colin gets a
headache from the stuff he is learning, or maybe from trying to move
through Shadow.  He shifts towards the Black Road, where they get
attacked.  He and Suhuy fight and the retreat, exhausted, to hole up in a
hotel.

	Rasa sees to Sand's wounds, while Lilith and Alastair Trump Farad. 
Sand wakes up, and seeing Alastair, kisses him.  He hits her, and she
passes out again.

	Colin arrives at the Shadow-pocket where he stashed Fiona, only
Brand is there instead.  Brand attempts to convert Colin in that
mind-raping sort of way he has.  Colin Power Words him and Trumps away
with Suhuy, to Bramber, unfortunately.  Suhuy shapeshifts himself to look
like Brand, and they Get the Hell Out of There.  [Game log note: it is at
this point that Colin says something that made me think a good title for
this session would have been "Colin and Suhuy's Excellent Adventure."  As
you can see, I did not allow impulse to take me.]

	Farad leaves Bramber to ride to Amber, not that the game log ever
noticed his arrival in Bramber.  Oops.

	Alastair leaves to find Eric.  Rasa Trumps Farad every hour on the
hour, though he keeps resisting.

	Gabriel shows up and shares his information about Sebastian and
some of the goals of the people at the other end of the world, then begins
to moralize about cooperation.

	Colin realizes that the Shadow pocket Brand was in was a fake, and
tries to gain access to the real pocket -- only to see Brand again.  Suhuy
throws a chair at him and gets Colin out of there, since it seems Colin
has used up his reserves at this point, and Brand was about to "win,"
whatever that means -- probably that he was going to eat Colin's soul. 
Colin Trumps to Arden and attempts to access the Shadow pocket from there. 
This time he is successful.

	Farad continues to ward off Rasa's Trump contacts, even though she
tries Morse code.  Eventually he gets near the Black Road and is
subsequently attacked, at which point he is more than happy to take her
call.

	Gabriel looks for Corwin to ask him if he really doesn't want
Greyswandir back.  Corwin, upon being found, assures him it is fine.  Then
Gabriel questions him about loyalties and whose oath takes precedence. 
Corwin tells Gabriel that he really isn't allowed to tell Brand that
Lilith wants to destroy his Pattern.  Gabriel contacts Lilith, and they
discuss many things.

 	Colin and Suhuy reach Fiona.  Colin asks Suhuy to heal her, which he
does.  It takes a while, and Colin even leaves to get food, trusting Suhuy
for some reason.  Fiona wakes up and seems to recognize Suhuy, to Colin's
interest.

	Alastair goes to Earth, and finds that he can only contact Flora
there.  She tells him that Eric will get back to him, so Alastair goes to
a cafe to wait.  Eric walks up behind him wearing Werewindle.  Alastair
asks him to help.  Eric tells him to kill Brand, because if Brand gets the
Jewel, only Dworkin would be able to defeat him.  Then Eric disappears,
leaving his son a bit perplexed.

	Colin passes out from fatigue.  Suhuy takes him to shelter to let
him rest.

	Gabriel goes to see Brand after Rasa tells him of the plan that
they have finally come up with (a duplicate Jewel and a duplicate Lilith
to lure Brand out, then dash in to destroy the Pattern).  Brand takes
Gabriel's Trump of Lilith and pulls the 8 out of 1 Trump trick, then
convinces Gabriel to help him find Lilith and the Jewel.  They discuss the
future of the universe.

	Sand gets a Trump contact.  Brand Trumps her through and tells her
to kill Lilith, and gives her a Trump.  Sand tries it; the contact fails,
and Sand goes to get dinner.

	Farad grabs the Jewel from Lilith and teleports the three entities
away.  Rasa notices and Trumps Farad.  Lilith keeps her hold on the Jewel
and runs from Farad.  Farad casts a stone binding spell on her, but the
virtue of the Jewel keeps it confined to her feet only.  Farad catches up
with her and they grapple for the Jewel.  Farad casts a lightning bolt at
Lilith.  Lilith calls a bolt from the Jewel.  The bolts meet and the
explosion knocks them apart.  Lilith loses half a foot, and Trumps Rasa,
who pulls her through.  Lilith sends a lightning bolt to Farad, and Farad,
beaten for the moment, Trumps to the Grove of the Unicorn.

	Colin queries Suhuy as the best way to get to Amber.  Suhuy
mentions "the other way" (Logrus), and they use it, leaving Fiona in the
Shadow pocket.  Unfortunately, Logrus tires Suhuy as much as the Pattern
does Colin.

	Farad exits into Shadow, limping and in pain, but possessing
enough knowledge from his encounter to make a fake Jewel.

	Rasa notes that she and Lilith have similar healing capacities, as
Lilith's foot closes up, leaving a nice stump.

	Gabriel Trumps Alastair to ask him if he has a son.  Alastair
claims no knowledge of one.  They chat, heading to the Black Road, where
Gabriel steps onto it.  Alastair, not to be outdone, steps on as well, and
has a very difficult time making peace with it.

	Sand Trumps Rasa and asks the whereabouts of Lilith and comes
through.  They discuss Lilith's foot, and how to modify the plan.  They
head to dinner, and Lilith refuses to be alone with Sand.

	Colin realizes he is out of Trump range of anyone, so conjures a
good steed and Hellrides for it, to give Suhuy a Logrus break.

	Lilith is Trumped by a blond guy, who tells her Brand is coming to
take the Jewel, and to be aware.  She Trumps Alastair, and goes through to
Alastair and Gabriel, who question her as to why Gabriel and Lilith have
little difficulty with the Black Road, but Alastair is getting trapped. 
Alastair Trumps Farad, who was in his Shadow having a drink.  They are all
having a useless little chat when Brand appears next to Lilith.  Lilith
runs to the Black Road, from which "things" are rising out of.  Gabriel
gets a little riled up, but before he can stop Brand, Brand sends him away
to the glade.  Alastair Trumps Brand to distract him, but Brand takes over
his mind, and forces him to attack Lilith.  Alastair fails to send
peaceful thoughts to Brand.  Lilith uses Psychic Disrupt on Brand, which
releases Alastair, but doesn't stop Brand from blocking her from using the
Jewel.  Farad jumps onto Brand's back.  Brand repels his attackers, though
Farad tries to combine a mental attack with a physical one.  Brand casts a
spell at Lilith, but the Jewel saves her and she ends up on the Black
Road, speeding away from the scene.  Farad casts a lightning bolt on his
father, but it has no effect.  Alastair also takes the Black Road away
from the scene.

	Gabriel Trumps Ganelon and goes through.

	Lilith Trumps Tristan once she is safe, but he doesn't answer
(he's the blond guy that warned her about Brand).  Lilith and Alastair
head towards that other pole of reality.

	Sand gets an idea, and suggests it to Rasa.  They go to a high
tech level Shadow and take transfusions of Farad's blood (they had barrels
of it).  Then they Trump to Bramber.  Sand attempts to walk the Bramber
Tir-na Nog'th Pattern, but is repelled.  Rasa tries it and bursts into
flames, but nevertheless manages to walk it.  At the center, she teleports
to Brand's Primal Pattern, and pulls out her dagger and her couple pints
of Farad's blood that she has just for this occasion.  And, oh boy, her
own blood will work as well....  Sand watches Rasa disappear and speedily
leaves Bramber.

	Colin is having an impossible time getting home.  He and Suhuy go
to look at the Black Road.  Suhuy gives him the ten minute lecture on the
Logrus, calls up the sigil in the air, and has Colin step through it. 
When he does that, Suhuy is gone, and Colin has a Trump of him (though
this game log is uncertain as to where Colin stepped through to).

	Thusly, at the end of the game:
	
	Colin is standing someplace, holding a Trump of Suhuy.
	Rasa is standing at the center of Brand's Primal Pattern, holding
a dagger and a lot of Pattern-eraser-fluid.
	Farad is not standing, he is Hellriding to Chaos.
	Lilith and Alastair are near or in Chaos.
	Sand is high-tailing it out of Bramber.
	Gabriel is talking and sparring with Ganelon.
