Session Fourteen
		   O'er the ramparts, we watched...

Note: Game log not responsible for disparities in the space-time
continuum. All purely the fault and design of the Game Master.

We begin at the funeral, where we left off. Gabriel tells Rasa
that she's going to apologize to the families of the guards that were
killed by the Shadow wolves that she and Farad called up, and that Lilith
has already agreed to make monetary compensations for them. Then he asks
Rasa if she wants to meet his daughter. And then he goes to Brand's tomb.

Lilith, Colin, Bonaparte, Alastair, Rasa and Duncan are on the
ramparts, discussing this. They see Tir-na Nog'th appear in the night sky
(One wonders about Tir-na Nog'th. Or does one?), and Duncan begins
climbing the stairs. Colin, Lilith and Rasa Trump through to him
together, and Gabriel does the same separately.

Alastair finds that Farad the Fire Demon is gone, and takes some
ashes with him into Shadow. Bonaparte follows indiscreetly, but turns
back when it appears that Alastair is unimpressed by this. Alastair heads
to a Shadow to clone Farad. (Oh, like that's an original idea.) Bonaparte
looks for stuff in the castle, and sees the almost finished portrait of
our dear Regent-to-be.

Gabriel does paperwork, and goes to his room to sleep. Benedict
is there, so he stays up past his bedtime and talks about army stuff.
Then he tries to sleep, but he has these darn dreams about people teaching
him warfare techniques.

Colin, Lilith and Rasa go to the Pattern in Tir-na Nog'th.
Duncan, thinking to do a little investigation of his own, wanders around,
but eventually ends up in the Pattern room too. Colin investigates the
disturbance in the Pattern, but gets no further than Lilith.

Alastair gets his cloning project underway, for which he is being
charged the extortionistic price of 1.3 zillion quadroons. This does not
bother him as much as failing to Trump Paris and Farad does. He leaves
things in motion and returns to Amber.

Bonaparte gets lost in the Hall of Mirrors, and concusses himself
by ramming his brain case into a mirror a couple of times, for some reason
thinking it's a doorway. Eventually, he gets out and ends up, as if by
magic, on the ramparts, where he sees Tir-na Nog'th is being approached by
clouds.

Alastair gets back and Trumps Duncan from the ramparts, and beams
the Tir-na Nog'th away team back to the... oops. You know what I mean.

Everyone goes to bed, except for Rasa, who practices
shapeshifting, and Duncan, who caffeinates himself, and Bonaparte, who
sleeps on the ramparts, I guess.

Tir-na Nog'th reappears from under the cloud bank, and Lilith
senses the Jewel again. Bonaparte goes up to the city in the sky, and
notes a red-headed Tir-na Nog'thian walking past, and follows him. The
red-head walks the Pattern, and Bonaparte follows him. Of course,
Bonaparte is really tired, and Alastair, sensing this, heads up to Tir-na
Nog'th with a servant.

Colin senses the Jewel. He wakes up and goes to Tir-na Nog'th,
keeping Lilith in Trump contact with him, where he investigates the Jewel
sense and various ghosts. Alastair makes his way to the Pattern, where he
sees Bonaparte, but no red-heads. Bonaparte's red-head makes it to the
drain, turns into mist and disappears. Lilith warns Colin that clouds are
coming in, as he approaches the Pattern to see this scene. Bonaparte
reaches the Third Veil and sees pulsing off to his right. He freezes on
the Pattern while the energy floods his body, trapping him. Bonaparte
tries to get his cloak to grab the thing on the Pattern, but the cloak,
being of Chaos, catches on fire. He draws it back. Alastair and
Bonaparte discuss how they might get him off of the Pattern, and it is
agreed that Trump is the best means. Now, if only Alastair had a Trump of
Bonaparte. Or if Bonaparte had any Trump at all. Alastair offers
Bonaparte a Trump of himself, so Bonaparte sends the cloak to fetch it.
The cloak ignites and incinerates itself well before it reaches Alastair.
Alastair throws his Trump of himself to Bonaparte, but it falls short.
Colin offers his Trump of Alastair to Alastair to throw to Bonaparte.
Alastair throws it, and it falls in reach. Bonaparte picks it up, and
Trumps Alastair. Alastair attempts to pull him through, and gets pulled
through instead, and now there are two Amberites frozen on the Pattern.

Colin, receiving the word from Lilith that now would be a good
time to leave, does so. Tir-na Nog'th begins disappearing. Bonaparte
grabs onto Alastair with both hands, just in case Alastair gets tricky and
manages to get out of there. Alastair tries many Trump that don't work,
in an effort to leave. Tir-na Nog'th fades. Lilith Trumps Alastair
finally and brings them both through as they are falling. And once again,
many are on the ramparts.

Once through, Alastair and Bonaparte scuffle; Alastair asks what
Bonaparte was doing up there, and gets the red-head story. And who did
this red-head look like? Brand. Back to bed for everyone.

Dawn: Rasa fails to intimidate the guards enough to be allowed to
awaken Lilith. So, Rasa seeks Gabriel, who is breakfasting with Duncan.
Their breakfast is quite amiable. Alastair and Colin both arrive next,
and the events of the day and evening before are discussed.

Morning: Corwin and Julian's funeral. All attend, except
Bonaparte. Lilith, Gerard, Benedict and Gabriel speak eulogies. Eric and
Alastair, in the back row, discuss Lilith's up-and-coming death, and the
whereabouts of the Jewel. Eric tells Alastair to kill Lilith while Eric
distracts Gabriel, and gives his son a dagger and some poison. Then Eric
strides up to Gabriel and challenges him to a duel in the Grove of the
Unicorn, and leaves. Alastair heads towards the Regent and snitches on
his dad, and suggests Eric be arrested.

At this point, Lilith is shot at, and three guards die. Lilith
takes a bullet in the shoulder (again?), and they move towards Corwin's
tomb for cover. Duncan runs off to find the sniper; Rasa shifts to demon
form; Colin conjures a bullet-proof shield; Alastair jumps behind Colin;
Gabriel goes into the tomb to look around, and gets poisoned by gas.
Lilith Trumps him to bring him back into fresh air, and begins emergency
life-saving procedures.

Duncan attains the ramparts, sees the sniper, and tries to knock
him out. The sniper shapeshifts and attacks, and cuts up Duncan's hawk.
The guard aims his rifle at Duncan, but they scuffle, and the shapeshifter
flees. Duncan pursues and loses the trail, questions everyone (no one
knows anything), and Trumps Gabriel, who doesn't answer. Even the rifle
melts down in his hands.

Colin conjures a med-breather for Gabriel. Lilith is Trumped by
Duncan, who informs her of everything in the paragraph I just wrote, and
then notices what happened in the paragraph before that. He goes to the
infirmary and Trumps Lilith again, and brings Gabriel, Lilith and Colin
through, and probably Alastair too. Lilith is suspicious of Bonaparte's
whereabouts and part in all of this.

Bonaparte is, in fact, seeking his cloak in Shadow. Actually, two
cloaks. A spare is always good. When he returns, Duncan has him arrested
and disarmed. Bonaparte refuses to surrender his sword to anyone other
than his cloak. Duncan takes a Trump call from Alastair, and fills him in
on the goings-on. Duncan realizes he has no case to hold Bonaparte with,
and releases him. A very displeased Bonaparte challenges Duncan to a duel
before Lilith's instatement as Regent.

Rasa posts guards at the tomb and walks to the castle and arrives
in the infirmary. Lilith makes Colin Trump Suhuy, who comes through and
announces that Gabriel has inhaled a neurotoxin, and sets to work to fix
the boy. Rasa wants to investigate, but Lilith warns her it is too
dangerous. Lilith orders Colin to conjure a neutralizer, so he and Rasa
can go investigate.

Rasa and Colin head to the tomb, neutralizer in hand. Rasa sets
off a weak magic negate in the door of the tomb, and sees a box with a
serpent sigil on it sitting on the tomb. Before Colin can stop her, she
goes to open it, and the boom was heard round the world. They fall
unconscious.

Lilith Trumps Colin, then Rasa, to no avail, and heads immediately
to Corwin's tomb (er... ex-tomb). Lilith is approached by Bonaparte, who
attacks her; she draws Greyswandir. Bonaparte sends his cloak to attack
the Pattern sword, which is poorly thought out, since it goes the way of
the first cloak. They fight, until Alastair runs to the rescue.

Duncan investigates the tomb. The guards are dead, Colin has a
head wound and is unconscious, while Rasa is merely unconscious. Duncan
gets them to the infirmary. Rasa wakes up with a headache, and her
internal injuries are healing. Duncan goes to question Bonaparte again,
and asks him about where the second cloak is.

When Rasa wakes up, she sees Gerard in the infirmary, and an
unconscious Gabriel and Colin. Rasa and Gerard go to seek Lilith, and
find Bonaparte. Rasa decides Bonaparte is downright evil, challenging a
fifteen-year-old girl to a duel. Rasa leaves to go lay down again.

When he wakes, Gabriel Trumps Benedict's relay, requesting
assistance, and saying that he's down and Lilith is unprotected. He is
told to seek Gerard, which he does.

Lilith questions Rasa, Colin and Gabriel, and a discussion of
Corwin's head being lost in the blast ensues. Lilith leaves to eat,
guarded by Gerard. Lilith then begins to sprout feathers and a horn --
the first signs that a shape-shifter has been poisoned, and runs to the
infirmary to ask for help, where the injured are all having dinner.

Bonaparte defeats Duncan in gin and falls asleep.

Colin conjures Lilith anti-shapeshift venom, but Lilith and Rasa
both think this is foolish to take. Rasa finally gives in to try and help
Lilith retract the horn and feathers. They are partially successful, but
Lilith's hair remains bright red.

Alastair finds the guards' throats slit, Duncan unconscious, and
no Bonaparte to be found. Alastair sounds the alarm. Gabriel has a
litter take him to the scene of the crime, where he announces that the
guards were killed in a surprise attack.

At the end of the session:

Colin is holding a burger and a beer in the infirmary.
Lilith, with bright red hair, is sitting next to him.
Rasa is there, being assigned the task of finding out who made and
transported Lilith's poisoned meal.
Bonaparte is sleeping on the throne.
Duncan is at the crime scene, Trumping Paris.
Gabriel and Alastair are also at the crime scene.
