Session Ten
	"You don't want to go to Chaos.  They make you eat your toe."

	Farad the unconscious, Sand and Gabriel are outside of Bramber.
	Colin, Alastair, Lilith and Rasa (all unconscious) are at the
center of the Pattern.

	Gabriel heads his crew back to Bramber, and slaps a guard who
challenges their presence.  Gabriel heads away from Bramber at top speed,
and Farad wakes up.  Sand says that she will stay until Farad is better. 
Farad gets up and walks around, obviously an attempt to prove he's just
fine, and that Sand can leave.

	Rasa wakes up and teleports Lilith and Colin to Amber, and puts
them to bed together in Lilith's room, with cookies and milk by the bed.

	Alastair wakes up alone at the center of the Pattern and teleports
to the Great Hall.  He Trumps:
	Corwin and Brand (not cold)
	Osric, Finndo and Caine (coldish)
	Oberon (lukewarm)
	Rasa (cold).  Rasa takes the contact, and he makes her feel bad
for leaving him at the center of the Pattern.  In the midst of this,
Lilith and Colin wake up, and Lilith Trumps Rasa, to ask where the Jewel
is.  Lilith suspects Alastair or Rasa took it.  Rasa comes through the
Trump.

	Alastair goes to the Primal Pattern with a body bag, and picks up
Brand and puts him in.  Then he walks the Pattern and gets very, very
tired.

	Gerard knocks on Lilith's door and tells her that Corwin was
decapitated, and she's the regent now.  Rasa speculates that Suhuy or
Ganelon took the Jewel.

	Colin decides to take them all to the Primal Pattern to
investigate.  He feels amazingly refreshed when he uses the Pattern in his
head, and he teleports Lilith and Rasa easily.  They see Alastair on the
Pattern with a suspiciously lumpy bag.  It is asked why he has Brand's
body.

	Farad and Sand, in the middle of castle Bramber, are approached by
Alric, a butler of some importance, who tells Farad that he's the heir of
Bramber, is there anything he'd like?  Sand orders coffee, which Alric
conjures.  Alric also mentions that the Black Road armies are attacking. 
Farad suggests flight.  Sand tries some Trumps.  Only Gabriel's works, but
he doesn't help.

	Alastair notes that Brand had a Trump of Mara.  Alastair sets
Brand down when he reaches the center of the Pattern and asks for some
water or juice.  Colin attempts to conjure some for him over the Pattern,
but of course, mixing magic with the Pattern is not all that good of an
idea if you're thinking small.  A barrel full of water drenches Alastair,
and then the barrel comes down over Alastair's head.  Alastair is trying
to recuperate before he Trumps Mara, so he teleports off to Shadow (with
the bag o' Brand).

	Colin, Lilith and Rasa head back to the castle via Colin teleport
system, which irks Rasa, since she'd prefer to learn the walking way out
of the Pattern, which she is more likely to be able to do the next time
she gets trapped there (she thinks).  The functionaries ambush the
returning trio.  Lilith makes Colin her advisor (since he knows everything
about her anyway), and tries to send Rasa off to find Oberon, figuring
that dumb luck is about the only way to find Oberon, and Rasa has that if
little else.

	Julian Trumps Farad to ask if Corwin's dead.  Farad asks Sand if
this is true.  Sand doesn't think so.  Contact ends.  Farad tries to Trump
someone useful.  He is a little afraid of that army out there, which is
three times as large as the Bramber army.  He's also concerned, because he
won't be able to walk the Bramber Pattern to teleport away.

	Alastair suddenly has Brand in his mind, attacking him.  Brand is
also attacking him with a sword, so Alastair has to kill him again.

	Rasa heads off to find Oberon.

	Lilith falls to her knees screaming.  Eric is attacking her, and
she can't pull off a power word.  She gets a picture of him on a turret. 
Colin aids her, and together they hold him off handily.  Eric teleports in
and lunges at Lilith with his sword (actually, it's Brand's sword). 
Lilith draws her sword, which Eric cuts in half.  Eric ducks Colin's
thrown blade and asks where the Jewel is.  Eric throws a chair at Colin,
who ducks, proving he is greater than Brand.  Colin conjures grease under
Eric's feet, and then sets it on fire.  Guards run in to attack Eric. 
Eric throws a dagger into Colin's shoulder, then exits via the hallway,
and then disappears.  Colin conjures a big band-aid.

	Farad throws open the gates of castle Bramber to Chaos, thinking
this will appease them.  However, he gets hit and chained by Mara, who
then goes after Sand.  Mara hits Sand, who tries to Trump Gabriel, but
Sand passes out and shifts shape.

	Alastair returns to Amber and gives Brand's body to a functionary,
and then leads this morbid little procession in search of "people in
charge."

	Rasa has little luck finding the family patriarch, but does come
across Corwin's head.  She Trumps Lilith, who is telling Gerard how Eric
tried to kill her.  Rasa passes Corwin's head through, just about the same
time Alastair and the functionary bearing Brand's body come in.  Lilith
gives Corwin's head to Colin.  Alastair lingers, and gets his loyalties
questioned for his trouble.  Lilith asks him to rescue Farad.

	Sand, now brainless, wanders Shadow in her primal form.

	Farad awakens, either being spit or peed on, we aren't sure. 
Sebastian is there.  Farad's clothing is torn.  Sebastian questions Farad,
asking who has the Jewel, or who is in charge in Amber, that sort of
thing.  Farad says it's Julian, so of course Sebastian tortures him some
more.  Farad admits he knows nothing about the situation in Amber.  He is
tortured.  Farad makes something up, saying Amber's Pattern was repaired
by Lilith and Colin (and Colin wasn't even in the original plan, so extra
cookies for Farad...).  This satisfies Sebastian on that subject.  Then he
asks who is in charge of Amber, and the branding iron near Farad's nose
leads him to say that Lilith has the Jewel, which is actually true as far
as Farad knows.

	Alastair searches Caine's room for something and fails to Trump
Eric.

	Rasa gets a vague contact with a shadowy amorphous creature when
she tries Sand's Trump, as part of her jaunt through Shadow, trying to
contact people.

	Colin's arm hurts; Lilith chats with Gerard about the castle
defenses, and who is better to have help -- Julian or Gabriel?  Colin
Trumps Fiona to see if she will come help defend Amber.  She's still wiped
out, and suggests Farad.  Colin says he doesn't trust Farad.  Fiona says
Brand's Pattern is wrecking the universe, and the only way to keep
everything from falling apart is to destroy Brand's Pattern or to chuck it
off into its own universe.  Colin hangs up and discusses this with Lilith.

	Alastair Trumps Rasa to ask her if she has the Jewel.  She says
no, and asks him the same question.  They don't believe each other, and
Alastair proposes a Vulcan mind meld, and lo and behold, they were both
telling the truth!  Lilith Trumps Alastair at this point, who cuts off the
contact with Rasa.  Rasa Trumps Colin to tell him that she is having no
luck, at which point the shadowy amorphous creature attacks her.  She
comes through the Trump -- and so does the creature.  Oops.  Rasa
skedaddles out of the way to let the grown-ups take care of it.  It
attacks Lilith and Colin with tentacles and acid.  "Resume true form"
power word from Lilith does the trick, and the thing shapes up to be a
male version of Sand.  Colin tries to mind-heal the critter, but there are
few pieces left of the personality.

	Alastair walks the Pattern.

	While Colin and Lilith do grown-up things, Rasa tries
shapeshifting her hand into claws and gets stuck.  Since she's stuck
anyway, she tries to grow scales.  She gets a good portion of feathers in
with her scales, which irks her, so she grows some long fang-teeth. 
Lilith and Colin at this point grow concerned, and tell her to shape back. 
She tries, and it fails.  She grow some long curling ram horns to make
herself feel better.  Lilith and Colin grow vexed.  Lilith makes contact
with Rasa and learns that Rasa tried too hard to grow the claws, kind of
like winding a spring too tight.

	Alastair gets through to Benedict, trying to effect a rescue of
Farad.  Benedict sends help in the form of Tain, Logrus-man and cool guy
with a horse.  Tain shows up and tells Alastair to hop onto the horse, and
they ride really fast using anti-Pattern, to near where Farad is being
held.  Alastair Trumps Farad and finds that he has a toe missing and a few
fingernails are gone as well.  Tain sends Alastair through the Trump to
rescue Farad, keeping a tentacle on Alastair.  Alastair has a tough time
with the living material that makes up Farad's chains.  They resist his
bolt-cutter and his psychic domination, but succumb to his hydrochloric
acid.  Farad is released in a flurry of screaming, melting chains. 
Alastair muffles them, and Tain pulls Farad and Alastair through the Trump
via Logrus.  Tain drops them at Ygg, and Farad tells Alastair that his
captors where Mara and Sebastian.

	Colin gets fed up and power words Rasa with the resume true form
he learned from Lilith's mind.  She is stunned, but herself once again.

	Alastair Trumps Mara, Flora, and Eric, who are all out of range.

	Gabriel Trumps Lilith, and learns that Brand and Corwin really are
dead.  Lilith catches him up on her situation and the adventures of Sand,
amorphous blob, who is still sleeping on the floor in male form.  Gabriel
decides he works for Lilith now, and gives her Greyswandir.

	Benedict Trumps Lilith and has her summon Gerard and the other
military attache- types.  Colin, Alastair and Rasa also get the summons. 
Benedict (but officially, it's Lilith who wants all this) wants Alastair
to have Arden, with Gabriel in charge of armed forces.  Benedict advises
Gabriel privately, giving him a plain but important sword and a Trump of a
wooden marker.  Benedict then says he has other business and leaves. 
Turns out that plain sword is the "official sword of the leader of the
armed forces of Amber," and people do seem to recognize it.  Plus, it's
really sharp.

	Gabriel finds a note addressed to him in his quarters.

	At the end of the session:

	Gabriel is in his quarters discovering a note.
	Benedict has left the building (castle that is).
	Colin, Rasa and Lilith are chatting in the castle (Great Hall?).
	Brand and Corwin are dead (yeah right).
	Suhuy has been sent for to fix the Sand-like stranger.
	Sand was.
	Alastair and Farad are in some Shadow known only to Alastair."
