Daughter of Corwin and Queen Moire of Rebma, raised more by Moins and Llewella than her mother, she seeks to come to terms with the father she never knew, while making a place for herself in the worlds above and below the water.
Lorian is slender and rather tall, reaching a height of 6'2". Her hair is a blending of green and black and falls in waves just past her shoulders. She prefers wearing it loose and it often seems somewhat unkempt, although she styles it for more formal occasions. Her eyes are mostly green, but are softened with a touch of blue. She has an almost tomboyish air about her, a feeling of energy barely contained. She appears to be in her twenties.
Lorian's style of dress varies depending on whether she's above or below the water. In Rebma, she follows the conventional style of a loincloth and no top, or a scaled, weighted skirt for formal occasions that flares as it descends downward, extending far enough in the back to actually form a small train. Her feet are often bare and her hair is loose to flow in the current.
On the surface, Lorian tends to wear a loose blouse and belted slacks, the legs of which are tucked into calf-high boots. Her hair is held back from her face by a bandanna, if necessary. The effect is that of a sailor (or a pirate, depending on who you ask), which isn't too surprising considering that her early exposure to surface dwellers consisted primarily of those who work the seas. For formal surface occasions, she tends to wear a modified Rebman dress, using the flaring skirt described above attached to a sleeveless top, with a deep V-neckline and low back.
Lorian has piercings in both ears, as well as a piercing in her navel and both nipples. The latter, of course, are not visible unless you encounter her in Rebma. She tends to avoid wearing jewelry that could easily get caught on something, like necklaces or dangling earrings, unless she is dressing up for a special event.
A study in contrasts, Lorian appears equally at home in the Rebman court, or in a cutthroat poker game with Caine. In truth, the latter is far more appealing to her, and she is prone to show off when she feels free of the confines of her position as Rebma's Queen. Her youth leaves her impulsive and quick to form opinions, but she can be just as quick to change them when presented with evidence to the contrary. Growing up in Rebma has given her a decidedly feminist streak, especially given how ill-used her sister Morganthë was by Random.
Ocean blue, sea green and silver.
Lorance (Golden Circle): Lorian used this alias while she was disguised as a boy and working on one of Caine's ships from ages 11-13.
Lorian was born in Rebma and has lived there for most of her life. Rebma is a decidedly matriarchal society, although men are not regarded quite as badly as women are in Amber.
Antilles: A Golden Circle Shadow located next to Elysium, it is mostly a water world with a few archipelagos and a large undersea community. The culture is like mythical Greece, complete with merfolk, and magic is strong there. Lorian spent a great deal of her life in Antilles, and her foster family still lives there. She keeps one of her main residences in the Shadow, and views it as a kind of vacation spot, of sorts.
Aquilla: A high-tech. undersea Shadow, inhabited by air breathers who live in bubble cities. Aquilla is located near Tendoxin, a high-tech. Mexican-style Shadow where Martin hangs out. Lorian lived in Aquilla with Llewella for a year and a half when she was a teenager, gaining experience with advanced technology.
"When first we met, she was but a homely child. As time passed, she flowered before me. Maturity has been kind to her." -- Jaysen (January, 1998)
"I didn't like her when I first met her...sticking her nose in to ruin my perfect moment with Corwin, and here she is again, asking me intrusive questions when I'm still recovering from the death of my father. I wonder if I could do something to teach Little Miss Snoopy to mind her own damn business..." -- Katherine (March, 1998)
"I worried when I first met her. She was bold, brazen -- everything I was sure Corwin would want in a daughter. But fortune shines upon me, for she hates him as surely as the moon rises in the evening sky. She seeks to raise Corwin's hackles at every opportunity, leaving me to smooth them down again. Yes, dear sister, dig thy own grave. Be assured that I will help to cover you over when your usefulness is at an end..." -- Talia Bacquillinor (October, 1997)
"First a new mother. Then a new brother. Now a sister. What else is there? She seems awfully eager to change the world; I've yet to decide if she's naive or not." -- Torrence (December, 1997)
