Verra, this day has had more twists and turns than a yendi. First Eric, Dice's supposedly dead father, returned to Amber, along with an army. From what I could gather, their arrival here was unintentional. What makes it so amusing is that they all landed square on Gwydion, who was trying to sneak his way back into the castle. Pity it didn't kill him, but that was attended to later. Peter continues to think he can order me around. What a fool. He actually tried to stop me from investigating Eric's arrival. First he ordered me back to my rooms, then ordered some guards to stop me. I told them to move or die, but Peter returned before I learned their answer. Lightbringer was most disappointed. As was I. I was in a mood for blood, thanks to him. Demon Goddess, who does he think he is? I do not take orders from such as he. Dice and Mead decided to settle their difference with a duel. First intelligent action I've seen either of them take. I was chosen as moderator, although Caine was concerned that I might be biased. Not at all. I would like to see them both dead, so I did not care who won or lost. What was important is that the duel gave me some idea of their capabilities. Both seem well acquainted with sorcery, but they both relied on this odd armor for their physical combat. I suspect both would find things much more difficult were they separated from their devices. The highlight of the day was when Dworkin killed Gwydion. It was more than overdue. Obviously there are many more of him, as was evidenced by the speed with which another Gwydion arrived. But the one Dworkin killed is the one who offended me at dinner, so I am satisfied. This Dworkin troubles me, though. He claimed Gwydion was malfunctioning, but he does not seem to be all that sane himself. Which makes him even more dangerous. Does he know who's blood I am? He claimed not to, and I would not meet his eyes. After what happened to Gwydion, I am thankful I did not. It is just as well, anyway. I do not wish the specifics of my genealogy known to all. Not until I have determined my response. I can only hope that the initial results of my spell were in error. It is far more difficult to avenge oneself against one who is already dead.
