Tybalt has a new sword. One that Lightbringer fears, so it must be a sword of some magnitude. I have not yet determined its capabilities. Nor have I determined why this Wayland needed to cap the Abyss. It is most curious, given that everything I have read or heard indicated that the Abyss was in Chaos, and not something that could be capped. Wayland bears investigating, although I doubt there will be much more to find. I have not been able to gather nearly as much information as I'd hoped. The problem is two-fold. First, I am not proven to be one of them, and therefore the Amberites are wary of me. I have been accorded a Trump deck and quarters in their castle, based on Amanda's opinion that I may be related, but she admits she can't be positive of this. The only way I may prove it is to walk upon the Pattern, and her belief is not enough for me to risk my death upon that thing. After all, it is possible that she lied in an effort to get rid of me. The other difficulty is that several of them can hear Lightbringer, who has not adapted well to this environment. Perhaps now that Rik is done with Random, I can persuade him to take me to Chaos. I wish to learn more about the things of power in that land. Including shapeshifting, if I can find one to teach me. The similarities I have observed between Chaos and Dragaera can't be a coincidence. There must be a connection. As twisted as a Yendi, but it is there. This is not to say that my efforts at gathering information in Amber have been totally fruitless. I know that the creatures which attacked us are called Reavers, and their armies consist of the dead of those they have fought. It is unclear as to whether these dead retain their souls. I should like to have Lightbringer test that. They primarily seem bent on attacking Amber, and I believe their incursion into Dragaera was simply because we were in their path. Which also means that the force we fought off is unlikely to have been anything close to their true number. A disturbing thought, given the difficulty we had in repelling the ones who did attack. In addition, I have learned a fair amount about the Amberites themselves, and their enmities with one another. Such information is always useful. And then there is the Pattern. While I cannot use it, I have seen and heard of some of its uses. Not all of them, I am certain, but more than we knew before. It remains to be seen what else I can learn before it is time to meet with Morrolan.
