I guess I didn't have any senes to come to. Everythings fine until we hit Arden. Julian's bored, but not enough to run us down. And I believed him when he said he'd cleared Arden of all the nasties. Apparently, he missed one. A rather large one. It probably would have ignored lme if I hand't decided that I didn't want to see Jubal eaten for dinner before I had mine. Funny thing is, it didn't seem like it really wanted to hurt him. Jsut batted him around for awhile until he drew first blood. Then it got serious. It completely ignored me until I poked it behind the elbow. Bit tougher than I hoped it would be. Lost a bit more of the tatoo for my pains. I'd rather not have to loose the whole damn thing in that manner. The fact that the beast melted after death din't improve my mood any. Neither did th long walk back to Amber without the damn horses. Arm bled the whole way there. The innkeeper charges us extra because we look like trach. Wished I still had the cat about then. I was planning on coming back as the Crown Prince sometime until Jubal blew it for me the next day at checkout. As I enter the main hall, a wave of memories washes over me. I used to hate this place. Now, one day it will all be mine. Great. All I can remember are the starched collars, Oberon scaring the shit out of me and Random trying to be... well, something he was incapable of being at the time. Morganthe was always trying to make everything perfect. And then Random met me at the door. I wish he'd put the sceptre away. I tell him of my plan to clear my name in Rebma. It doesn't exactly excite him. He asks about Benedict and the Chaos-thing, so I introduce him to Jubal. I probably shouldn't have just left Jubal by himself in the castle. But how much damage could he do? So I left him and went to see Vialle. She confirmed the information I got from Llewella, so I told her the details of my plan. so after suffering through dinner (and the revelation that Laughter belongs to _Fiona_), I set my plan into motion. I generally hate being in debt, but for what Llewella was able to do for me, I must say that in this case, I don't mind. She was able to dredge up tow of Muriel's former lovers. And I, through lame conversation, was able to secure/bully one of their testomonies. I figured that if I shot the first half of her story, the second half would crumble as well. Then I needed to find out whether or not Muriel deserved it. So I sat and watched the house all day. I must admit for a poorly as I handled the situation, it turned out. (After reviewing my performance, I begin to understand why the open plains agreed with me.) After sitting around all day waiting for a plan to strike (my ass fell asleep before _that_ happened), and being denied as a delivery boy, I decided to break into the house. Of course I wuss out at the last minute and just knock on the door inctead. The servant was uncooperative, but once Virgil came to the door, he proved to be much more entertaining. Now, I can understand a man fainting when faced with the impending possibility of being scalped (I've seen it happen), but not with me standing at the door saying "Hi, can Muriel come out and play?" I stepped ove him on my way upstairs. Muriel was less than pleased to see me. She's also sleeping with a knife under he pillow. The words we shared weren't important. Any woman who sleeps with a kitchen knife under her pillow as protection from her own husband, has been punished enough. So I make arragements with Llewella to take my punishment from Moire. Problem is, she doesn't want to dish is out. She either believes me now, or has forgiven me. She went so far as to insist that Random interfer- so I could avoid her punishment and she could save face with Muriel's family. Not the best of starts, but the past is finally buried.
