That should have been any of the human characters in The Thing
(1951), a xenophobic film of the McCarthy Era, but it wasn't because they
were all too macho. Incidentally, James Arness, who played The Thing, went on
to star as Matt Dillon, bringing order to Dodge City in Gunsmoke, the
longest-running Western (1955-1975) in television history.
