Ooh, someone with more time than I have should do one with a raven perching on his raised finger.

Thank you for that flight of fancy I was feeling light and prancy Stuck behind that closet door and bored with tales of blood and gore Shall I fly back to my Pallas (Not for me a Martian palace lined with bodies on the floor) No, I think not Evermore Will I? Won't I? Will I? Won't I? Will I nevermore? Won't I? Will I? Won't I? Will I? Won't I evermore? AnotherAnon

on Mon 3 Sep 2012 12:09:58 AM PDT CommentsWow AnotherAnon - quite a nice stylistic fusing of Poe and Carroll. To get the line breaks to work try space-space-return to get single line spacing. Double spacing by return-return. Line1 Line2 |

snort Thank you so much, all of you who took the time to do these - there's nothing like a good 'shopping. You have all brightened my day considerably. :) I have no photoshop skills but in the spirit of exchange those of you who like HP Lovecraft (I do wish we'd had time to add some tentacle to this course!) might like to check out Cthulhurotica...yes, it is exactly what it sounds like. Lovecraftian...er..."romance". Absolutely definitely not safe for work, minors, those of a reserved nature, or anyone who wants to keep their sanity intact. Hilarious, creepy and...well. Entirely perverse. It's this month's pick for geekandsundry.com's Vaginal Fantasy Hangout. Sounds absolutely bonkers, I know, but from what I've read so far the writers have really got a knack for the mythos and style. I should probably post this anon but what the hell. :)

Wow, gotta watch out for those quiet students :) Not even gonna click on that link but I will write it down and check it... errr tell my friends about it... yeah, my friends...

Maybe the Professor's closet is bigger on the inside that it is on the outside.

He'd be a PERFECT Doctor!!! OMG we need to start a new thread!

So the Professor's closet is now the new TARDIS? Thanks Lara. I heart you for correctly capitalising the whole word, William! I think he'd make a great Doctor, and the whole series could be about going back in time to discover that Wonderland was actually an alien planet and that Frankenstein's monster was reanimated by the Chula.

I was so hoping that someone would do a Doctor Who one! Thank you, this made my day :D I don't believe Prof. Rabkin is British 8-(. So he won't qualify as a new doctor, sadly. I believe the requirement is that the doctor be a British citizen, or at least of British origin! 8-)

And here I thought the Doctor had to be from Galafrey. Shows how little I know. :)

on Wed 5 Sep 2012 1:00:40 AM PDT CommentsI like it Elizabeth. It does make the Professor look like he is complaining about his neighbors in the futuristic castle next door though. : ) SL photography is my specialty in Second Life. If you enjoy the fantastic, visit flickr and type in Second Life, plus the monster of your choice. For instance, here are the results for "second life kraken." http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=all&q=second+life+kraken&m=text The towers are Caledon Oxbridge, a learning center where the architecture is loosely based on Oxford & Cambridge. |

Is that a skeleton key she is using to open the closet? Will she go in? Or let things out?
[ Delete ]
Anonymous
You have to know she'll go in - it is Alice after all. Whether anything comes out - well, that's up for interpretation.

Alice tapped the man and said,"Where am I? Am I here or there? Am I up or down..Oh I am out of the closet!

I'm so jealous that I don't know how to do this. Will someone let me in on the secret because I love everyone of these.

on Thu 6 Sep 2012 3:43:20 PM PDT CommentsHere is a tutorial in Photoshop. He uses pretty much the same techniques I would use in GIMP. GIMP is open source and free, which I why I use it. But the concepts of paths, layers, and layer masks are the same tools. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbDL6b97kY0 And here is one in GIMP. It is a little less sophisticated, because the artist doesn't try to overlap the people, but it is pretty clear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNN0WsnPyEU Thanks for the tutorials Elizabeth. I was getting myself all worried about explaining alpha channels and other nonsense. I'm so glad you took the time to help. I found the 2nd tut amusing and a very easy example of GIMP. But beware Gwendolyn - if you enter these waters you may not come up for days - weeks - who knows. Once you start it's hard to stop. ; ) Ain't it true. I spent something like 14 hours on one photo the first time I decided to seriously "shop" something with layers and masks... I did a layered collage of an SL avatar dancing with the dancing figure captured from 3 different shots, and (since none of the backgrounds matched), making a layered misty gold dream of the background as well. Thanks everyone for providing this information. It really is appreciated cause this stuff is GREAT!

Ok, I have no problem making an image, but at a loss how to upload it! I tried clicking the "image" icon but it asks for a URL. I tried dragging it from my desktop (iMac) into the posting space, but that didn't seem to work. Hmmm

Linda Ganus
Linda - you need to upload your image to google docs, Facbook, DevantArt ...etc. Then you can right click the image and choose 'copy image url' ( I sometimes paste the url into a temporary text file so I don't inadvertently lose it}. Click on image in 'Reply to Thread' and paste the url. Hit return twice and enter any text you want to appear under your image. Hope this helps. |

<SNORT!>
LOL WHY??
Not precisely Cthulhu. Oh, we're not dealing with him in this class. Sorry.
so that's where my house mate is...
very imaginative, I am sorry we aren't dealing with H. P. Lovecraft.
Even the shadow! Nice touch!
